About Us
My name is Julia Starrett. I live in Annapolis, Maryland and attend St. Mary’s High School. I got the idea for this project as my brother and I were outgrowing our shoes so quickly during middle school. Our shoes were piling up and we were giving to friends with smaller feet that really didn't need the donated shoes as their families could easily afford. When I attended St. Gregory parish in Baltimore, MD in December 2016, I did not realize what a need there was for this community. I had never attended the church in previous years, so this was my first encounter. The pastor informed my mom and me that there is a lot of crime in the neighborhood and I was a little uneasy just being there. I knew in my heart that the people in this community were in need of our help and I wanted to help these people right here in our very own country. People in the United States need our help and most of us do not realize how fortunate we truly are.

Our Vision
My mom and I met with Father Pierre and his outreach director, Gloria Williams on December 22, 2016. We proposed my project and discussed the need for those children and the community to get appropriate shoes so that they could play various sports to run around and to have fun. We learned there are many families within the community and the children have been seen playing basketball shoeless or with flip flops. Father Pierre took my mom and me on a tour around the community. It was very sad to see the people from that community on the street. It opened my eyes to how much they need help from people like us.
